‘Girl’s Planet 999′ ends, but the girls’ story begins now.
Mnet’s ‘Girl’s Planet 999: Girls’ War’ (hereinafter ‘Girl’s Planet 999’) ended its broadcast on October 22. In the final episode and the final performance, they revealed the voting results to determine the final debut members. They confirmed a total of nine debut members. It includes Chaehyun Kim, Huening Bahiyyih, Yujin Choi, Dayeon Kim, Youngeun Seo, Yeseo Kang, Ezaki Hikaru, Sakamoto Mashiro, and Shen Xiaoting. They will debut under the team name ‘Kep1er.’
The group’s name means they have a dream in the future and contains the meaning of becoming one.
‘Girl’s Planet 999’ is the first audition program planned as a Korea-China-Japan project. It is a survival audition entertainment show that depicts a total of 99 girls. There are 33 participants from each region: Korea, China, and Japan. It captured the hearts of global Kpop fans by depicting participants of various nationalities coming together to understand and help each other and go towards their dreams.
The cumulative number of views of YouTube-related videos exceeded 400 million views. Also, the cumulative number of views of related posts on TikTok exceeded 2.9 billion views. The final episode, released through Mnet’s KPop official YouTube channel, was accessed by 200,000 people. It is the highest share of real-time viewing on TVING recording 70.8%. In Japan, it aired live through its own video platform and recorded more than 5 million viewers.
Mainly, expectations are high as it is a ‘Mnet group.’
Earlier, Mnet’s project groups I.O.I, Wanna One, and IZ*ONE, produced through the ‘Produce 101’ series, swept the top of the music and album charts with their appearance, playing a big role in the modifier ‘monster rookie.’
It’s not just a project group. The same goes for ENHYPEN, which was born through ‘I-LAND,’ which aired last year. Those who drew global attention, recording 44 million viewers at the time of the final broadcast, achieved half-million sellers less than a year after their debut. Also, they entered the US Billboard’s main album chart, ‘Billboard 200.’
The cumulative number of votes for Girl’s Planet 999, which participated from the first to the final in 170 regions, is as many as 100 million votes. So, attention focuses on Kep1er’s move with keen interest and love of fans across the border.
