Kpop group ASTRO member MJ has proven his global popularity with his solo debut. Recently, ASTRO MJ released the title song ‘Get Set Yo (Feat. Taeyeon Kim)’ of his first mini-album, ‘Happy Virus.’
It ranked 11th in the weekly chart of Billboard’s ‘Hot Trending Songs’ announced on its website on November 9 (KST), spreading the excitement to the world.
‘Hot Trending Songs’ is a new chart that provides real-time rankings of songs most frequently mentioned on Twitter over the past seven days or 24 hours. It ranks songs by artists that people currently love. MJ is a solo singer and attracts attention by settling unusually high for trot genre songs.
Right after its release, ‘Get Set Yo’ showed its presence on the iTunes Worldwide Song Chart and real-time charts of Korean music sites. So, MJ’s charm captivated music fans worldwide beyond Korea by choosing a semi-trot genre full of Korean excitement.
Particularly, MJ’s unique, refreshing voice and cool singing skills became keys that leads to the rise of ‘Get Set Yo.’
In addition, ASTRO’s JinJin, MONSTA X’s Kihyun & I.M, and popular character Pengsoo participate in the ‘Happy Virus’ challenge. They conducted it through social media and short-form video platforms. So, it continues the ‘Get Set Yo’ craze.
Then, after the release of ‘Get Set Yo,’ MJ appeared on various music broadcasts. He appeared on the SBS FiL ‘The Trot Show’ and KBS 1TV’s ‘Hometown Report.’
