The Atlanta Falcons have been mired in mediocrity for the better part of the last decade, though they've had a bright spot over these last few seasons in Bijan Robinson. The do-it-all running back has been fantastic since entering the league in 2023. He's amassed 5,648 yards from scrimmage, 34 touchdowns, and has played in every possible game despite the Falcons using him heavily, to the tune of 1,003 touches.
There was never any doubt that the Falcons would re-sign their superstar; it was simply a matter of how much they'd offer. And we finally have our answer, as the two side agreed to a deal worth up to $75 million over three years. The contract extension includes $51 million in guaranteed money, which is the highest ever for a running back, excluding rookie contracts. Jeremiyah Love, a rookie for the Arizona Cardinals, has $53 million guaranteed in his rookie deal, but no other active NFL running back has previously signed for more money.
Robinson's average annual value (AAV) is $22.25 million and could reach $25 million if he hits certain incentives. That's higher than any other running back in the league, with Robinson surpassing the previous top earner in Saquon Barkley (who has an AAV of $20.6 million).

Robinson, the No. 8 overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, had 2,298 scrimmage yards last season to lead the NFL and set a Falcons franchise record. His 5,648 scrimmage yards in his first three seasons is the fourth most by any player in NFL history.
With the Falcons hoping to improve upon an 8-9 record from last season, the team hasn't been afraid to spend big bucks to lock down its top players this offseason. Wide receiver Drake London signed a four-year, $141.05 million extension, tight end Kyle Pitts re-upped for $54 million over three years, and guard Matthew Bergeron signed for four years and $96 million.
Robinson has performed well no matter who's been under center for the Falcons, though he'll likely have to once again adjust to a new signal caller. Michael Penix Jr. is still here, although he's competing for the starting job with Tua Tagovailoa, who signed with Atlanta after the Miami Dolphins released him. The Falcons also brought on Cooper Rush for veteran leadership and have undrafted rookie Jack Strand on the roster, as well.
Expect to see Robinson receive the ball plenty of times throughout the year. And if the Falcons can step it up from last season, they'll get to unleash Robinson in the playoffs. That will be must-see TV for every football fan.
