Her parents are Inigo de la Heurta y Ozores and Judith Bruce. She was raised by her mother and her older sister in the SoHo neighborhood of Lower Manhattan. She attended the Saint Ann's School in the borough of Brooklyn and also attended the performing arts camp, Buck's Rock. During the summers, she spent time with her father in Spain.

Career

De la Huerta began modeling while still an adolescent. She modeled for Zac Posen, the fashion designer, whom she had attended school with at Saint Ann's School. In 1998, she made her film debut in the romantic comedy, "The Object of My Affection." The following year, she appeared opposite Michael Caine and Charlize Theron in "The Cider House Rules." In 2002, she appeared in the film "A Walk to Remember" along with Shane West and Mandy More. The film was based on the Nicholas Sparks novel.

In 2007, de la Huerta was cast in the role of Linda for the film "Enter the Void." The film was a psychedelic melodrama set in the nightclubs of Tokyo. De la Huerta has accused the movie mogul Harvey Weinstein of raping her on two occasions in 2010. She came forward to police in 2017 in New York. The following year, she filed a $60 million lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court accusing Weinstein of the rape and of orchestrating a harassment campaign that she contends damaged her career. Over 75 other women also accused Weinstein of sexual abuse, much of which was publicized during the height of the Me Too movement.

Paz also forged an unsuccessful lawsuit against movie studio Lionsgate in which she sought $55 million after her voice was overdubbed in the movie "Nurse 3D."

In April of 2011, de la Huerta was sued by the MTV reality show actress Samantha Swetra after the two got into an altercation at a bar. De la Huerta was arrested and then released. She pleaded guilty in July of 2011 to harassment and the misdemeanor charges filed against her were reduced to a non-criminal violation. She completed 12 weeks of alcohol counseling, a day of community service, and was ordered to stay away from Swetra.
