NMIXX Official Debut: Will They Become Another Successful Girl Group From JYP?

JYP Entertainment’s rookie girl group, NMIXX, will finally debut after three years of training.

NMIXX will make their official debut with the release of their first single, ‘AD MARE,’ and the title song ‘OO‘ at 6 pm on February 22.

NMIXX is a rookie girl group prepared ambitiously by producer Jinyoung Park. JYP has built the myth of the girl group ‘invincibility’ by succeeding in Wonder Girls, Miss A, TWICE, ITZY, as well as NiziU in Japan. So, it has garnered intense interest from fans.

The 7-member rookie girl group NMIXX consists of Jinni, Jiwoo, Kyujin, Sullyoon, Bae, Haewon, and Lily. They gained attention early on when Lily, from the 4th season of SBS ‘K-Pop Star,’ which aired in 2015, joined as an official debut group member after seven years. They are confident of the ‘All Ace Group’ with dance, singing, and visuals and have been promoting a large-scale comeback.

The music pursued by NMIXX is their own new genre, MIXX POP.

Mixx Pop is a genre where you can feel various charms that combine two or more genres into one song. So, expectations for the group’s debut song are high as it emphasizes their unique genre.

The debut single ‘AD MARE’ is a Latin word meaning ‘to the sea,’ which stimulates questions about how it will link to the bold message in the story trailer, ‘We are trying to move together into a world like a sea we dream of.’

The title song ‘OO’ combines the unconventional punk genre and Teenage Pop Rock genre as the intense trap intro catches the ears from the start. The song’s name, which shapes the eyes wide open to surprise and embodies the exclamation ‘Oh!’ with magnificent beats and addictive sounds, and the energetic lyrics such as “Oh my, the fallen mentality is taken away, babe Watch out, baila baila baila, to announce the emergence of NMIXX, who aimed at the music industry in 2022.

Attention is focusing on whether NMIXX will re-prove the reputation of ‘girl group master’ JYP following TWICE, which has been in good shape in its seventh year since its debut, and ITZY, which has succeeded in making a leap into a global divinity in its third year.

NMIXX will release its debut single ‘Ad Marre’ and title track ‘OO’ at 6 pm today, February 22. The debut showcase will take place online and offline at Blue Square Mastercard Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, at 8 pm on March 1 after the COVID-19 outbreak.
